We’re proud to announce the successful completion of our latest collaborative project — the Cinema Refurbishment at the University of South Wales Cardiff Campus. This ambitious transformation has redefined what a campus cinema can be: a multifunctional, modern, and comfortable space that enriches student life.
The Vision
The existing cinema space had served the university community for many years but needed a complete refresh to meet modern standards. The university’s brief was clear:
- Create a more accessible and comfortable seating layout
- Modernise AV, lighting, and power infrastructure
- Improve safety and acoustics
- Deliver a premium aesthetic that enhances the user experience

Our Work in Detail
Our team managed and delivered a full interior transformation, including:
- Tiered seating platforms Adjusted the seat tiers to reduce steepness and improve visibility, comfort, and accessibility.
- Flooring & soundproofing Installed a raised pedestal sound-proof floor at the front and renewed all flooring.
- Acoustic & visual finishes Fitted new side panels, oak wall panelling, and bespoke diamond-pattern details for both style and sound control.
- Safety railings & lighting Installed bespoke metal railings with solid oak handrails and phosphorescent step/edge capping to boost safety.
- Power infrastructure Installed individual fused spurs and power outlets at each seat, with new cabling and dedicated fuse board isolation.
- AV and lighting systems Integrated updated lighting and audiovisual features to support diverse uses of the space.
- Seating Installed new bespoke seats designed for comfort and functionality, each with its own power access.
